ONE WORD

Reading the room…

How to play One Word

  1. One player guesses. Everybody else sees a secret word and writes one word as a clue.
  2. Any two clues that match are thrown away before the guesser sees them — including plurals. The obvious clue is usually the worthless one.
  3. A right guess wins the card. A wrong one loses it and burns the next, so passing is a real option.

An example

The word is SNOWMAN. Bilal writes “carrot” and Chetan writes “carrots” — both cancel, and the guesser never learns they existed. All that survives is Devi's “winter”. Suddenly one good clue matters more than three obvious ones.
