THE OUTSIDER

Reading the room…

How to play The Outsider

  1. Everyone sees the same board of sixteen words, and everyone is told which one is the secret — except one player, chosen at random.
  2. Each of you gives one word as a clue. Clues are typed privately and revealed together, so nobody gets the easy job of going last.
  3. Then vote. Catch the Outsider and they still get one guess at the word.

An example

The board is Cricket and the word is Yorker. You say “toes” — clear to anyone who knows, meaningless to anyone who doesn't. The Outsider, who can see the board but not the word, says “helmet” and hopes it passes.

3–12 players · about 20–35 minutes · suggested from age 10 · free, no sign-up, plays in any browser.
